Interview with Lee Clough – Masters Champion 2012

Sean Trivass spoke to new IPA Professional 8 Ball Masters Champion 2012 Lee “The Tower” Clough about his recent well-earned victory

Last weekend saw an inspired line up of players headed off to the South West Snooker Academy in Gloucester for the £10,000 first prize on offer for the winner of the Professional Masters, and it was Blackpool player Lee Clough who walked away with the prize, winning the final 9-7 beating Chris Melling in a nip and tuck final, that went as near to the wire as it could in the small hours of Monday morning.

Ringside report – Professional Masters

“Professional 8 Ball Pool Masters made the weekend for both players and fans” writes your “Ringside” Reporter.

Yesterday saw the last sixteen matches draw to a very late close but all day today (Sunday), we had the remaining matches and by now people were starting to salivate at the prospect of a cool £10,000 first prize – nice work if you can get it?

Firstly, I need to point out that I do not know any of the players nor do I play myself at this level, so I come here unbiased and with no loyalties but a slight (very slight) knowledge of the game, and we all know a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing!

Joint Number One Forced to Pull Out Through Injury

Ben Davis will try to write a new pool fairytale this weekend, as he has been offered (and accepted) a place in the Professional 8 Ball Pool Masters, to be played this weekend at the South West Snooker Academy in Gloucester.

British Open – Playing the Generation Game

The first event of the IPA calendar 2012 was an undoubted success, not only for the new committee, the players and the sport, but particularly for one young man from Middlesex.

Giuseppe D’Imperio have only be 19 years of age, relatively inexperienced in pool terms, and playing in his first ever International Professional Pool Player championship, but he has taken the world of 8 Ball Pool by storm to put it mildly.

The Italian Job.

In the first major amateur event of the IPA season, young Giuseppe D’Imperio was already being tipped as favourite after launching his career by winning the British Open at his first attempt on the tour, but there was a long list of distinguished and established amateur players determined to prove that lightening doesn’t strike twice, thus foiling an unbelievable double.
